LUCAS CARPENTER

Lucas is a Partner with PwC with a reputation for exemplary client service in delivering Assurance services to the Firm’s Audit and Non-audit power and utility clients by bringing poise, empathy and a collaborative approach in solving complex accounting and reporting issues.
Lucas has significant experience overseeing audits of large power and utility (P&U) companies and with various complex accounting matters, SEC filings, significant transactions such as debt offerings and business combinations, and the adoption of new accounting standards, including assisting companies with the implementation of the new revenue and leasing standards.
Lucas completed a two-year tour in the National Professional Services Group of PwC. While on tour in the National Office, Lucas reviewed the filings for over 20 power and utility companies and assisted clients with SEC reporting and GAAP accounting requirements for complex transactions. He also spent much of his time meeting with the Firm’s clients to discuss SEC regulatory and rulemaking as well as accounting updates and emerging accounting issues.
Lucas supports the Firm’s thought leadership, authoring P&U related publications, including PwC’s Guide to Accounting for Utilities and Power Companies,and serving as a frequent presenter on firm hosted webcasts for P&U companies.Lucas has often been asked to speak at industry conferences hosted by the Electric Energy Institute and American Gas Association.
Prior to working in the Mid-Atlantic assurance practice and the National Professional Services Group, Lucas spent ten years in the mid-west working with numerous public and private clients in the power and utilities, industrial product, and retail industries.
Lucas attended Truman State University for his Bachelors of Accountancy and the University of Illinois for his Masters of Accountancy.
Lucas devotes time to the community, including being actively involved in Junior Achievement and serving as a student mentor at Towson University. Lucas is passionate about supporting youth education and development.
Lucas is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Virginia and Maryland and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
