Special Agent, FBI
Special Agent Justin Vallese of the FBI Los Angeles Field Office is assigned to a Cyber squad comprised of Special Agents, Intelligence Analysts and Computer Scientists. This squad is responsible for conducting National Security computer intrusion investigations which have significant, global impact. Special Agent Vallese conducts frequent outreach and liaison with private sector partners and interfaces with the FBI’s Cyber Division.
SA Vallese has investigated and managed a variety of notable computer intrusion matters including an international hacker-for-hire conspiracy, and a Chinese-government backed intrusion conspiracy which led to the arrest and US prosecution of a Chinese Cyber-spy.
For several years, Special Agent Vallese’s work has focused on a malicious North Korean computer intrusion set referred to as the ‘Lazarus Group.’ The Lazarus Group has been responsible for various high-profile cyber-attacks to include the Sony Pictures intrusion, the WannaCry ransomware, several financial institution computer intrusions, and several cryptocurrency exchanges heists. Prior to his work in the Cyber arena, SA Vallese was assigned to work Financial Crimes, Internet Fraud, and Intellectual Property investigations at the FBI Los Angeles.
