LEROY NIX

Vice President, Strategic Policy and Stakeholder Engagement, Entergy

Leroy Nix is Director of Market Strategy for Southern Company Gas. In this role, Leroy is responsible for developing growth strategies in regulated jurisdictions served by Southern Company Gas utilities.

Leroy works with multiple partners – Southern Company Services, the Gas Technology Institute, Energy Impact Partners and others – to create initiatives that increase customer load, enhance market intelligence and produce innovative service offerings and green energy programs.

Leroy has extensive background in the development, legal and governmental affairs space, having spent a great deal of his career serving in various legislative policy capacities in Washington, D.C. He also has a deep understanding of the national political process with experience working on political campaigns across the country, including U.S. presidential, House and Senate races.

Since joining Southern Company in 2009, Leroy has held roles of increasing responsibility, most recently serving as director of Federal Governmental Affairs in Washington, DC. In this capacity, he worked closely with national elected officials, community leaders and stakeholder groups on issues related to energy and environmental policy. Leroy was part of the team responsible for representing Southern Company before Congress, federal agencies, trade associations and major coalitions on national public policy issues.

Prior to joining the Federal Governmental Affairs department, Leroy served as area manager of the Birmingham Division and as corporate affairs manager at Alabama Power Company. Before joining the company, Leroy was employed with Bayer Properties, a commercial real estate development company.

Leroy holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Montevallo in Alabama and earned his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. He was a member of the Blackburn Leadership Institute, Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society, Student Bar Association and served as president of the Black Law Students Association.

Leroy serves as a member of several boards and organizations, including the University of Montevallo Board of Trustees, Renasant Bank Community Board and The University of Chicago Booth School of Business CUL IMPACT Leadership Development Fellowship.
