Michael Salas, Chief Information and Digital Officer, Suez North America
Michael Salas serves as chief information and digital officer for SUEZ North America. In this position, he is responsible for all aspects of the company’s IT and digital strategy, governance, project delivery, systems development, infrastructure and service delivery.
Michael has over 16 years of experience and a proven ability to lead major technology-supported business transformation programs and consistently drives for best practice and superior customer service.
Michael first joined the SUEZ group as chief information officer for Australia, in which he successfully managed the technology strategy, project delivery and service delivery of both the waste and water businesses in Australia and New Zealand. In 2015, he was named a finalist in the iTnews Benchmark Awards for leading the business transformation of the core business systems and Finance, Procurement and Human Resources processes onto a single SAP platform.
Prior to joining SUEZ, he worked for some of Australia’s most prominent companies in various roles related to technology planning and strategy, client management, IT operations, and service management. He has also worked abroad leading technology teams delivering projects for clients in Hong Kong, Germany, the Netherlands and Puerto Rico.
In 2018 and 2019, Michael and his team were the recipients of IDG’s CIO 100 award, which recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology. In addition, Michael was recognized with a 2019 Technology Executive to Watch Award from HMG Strategy, the world’s largest independent and most trusted provider of executive networking events and thought leadership needs of technology leaders.
Michael has taken an active role in bolstering Women in Technology at SUEZ and is the current Chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Council.
