Chief Information Officer, Vice President, Essential Utilities

Whitney Stengel Kellett is Chief Information Officer of Essential Utilities where she is responsible for all Information Technology staff, applications and services. Essential is one of the largest publicly traded water, wastewater and natural gas providers in the U.S., serving approximately 5 million people across 10 states under the Aqua and Peoples Natural Gas brands. Overseeing an annual IT budget in excess of $100M and a staff of 150 employees and contractors, Whitney has led numerous technology initiatives including the implementation of Workday, the development of an enterprise shared technology services model across all subsidiaries, and is currently executing a 4-year business transformation program to implement SAP S/4 HANA (ERP, CR&B, BW) for all the water/wastewater subsidiaries. Before joining Essential, Whitney was Chief Information Officer at Atlas Energy, LLC, a publicly-traded, E&P energy company.

A veteran IT executive, specializing in strategic planning and execution, Whitney has held technology positions in a variety of industries including financial services, global transportation, manufacturing, clinical research, commercial real estate, insurance, private equity, energy and utilities. In 2018, 2019 and 2020, Whitney was a finalist for Philadelphia CIO of the Year in the Large Enterprise category.

Whitney earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia. She serves on the Board of Trustees at The Woodlynde School, is a member of the Forum of Executive Women and recently co-chaired a $10M capital campaign for St. David’s Episcopal Church in Wayne, PA. She also co-chaired Essential Utilities’ United Way campaigns in 2019 and 2020.
