Agile Implementation Approaches in the Age of Cloud

SUMMARY: This session discusses the Agile approach used to implement a new CIS by DC Water. Not only was DC Water’s implementation and deployment done in record time, a mere 12 months, but it helped reduce the overall cost and allowed the company to see some immediate benefits in the first month of the new system’s life. DC Water and their partner Vertex will discuss key aspects of the contracting, planning, implementation and process for continued innovation employed.

Rick Cutter, Managing Director, Cloud for Utilities
He has over twenty years of experience managing the delivery of technology solutions for utilities. As a Managing Director for Cloud for Utilities Mr. Cutter has established the Cloud for Utilities strategy in collaboration with Mr. Snead. Mr. Cutter brings a realistic view of the needs and concerns of this industry; especially as it relates to cloud technologies.
For AAC Utility Partners, of which he is a co-founder, he leads implementation strategy, planning and client team implementation support team. These services are delivered for On-premises and Cloud solutions exclusively to the utility industry.
In addition to his on-premise utility software experience, he also managed the first Cloud SaaS CIS model for the utility industry. This business model was a variable price model service based on consumption without license fees. The business focused on the emerging deregulated energy markets in the late 1990’s. In those early days, the model was referred to as Application Service Providers (ASP).

Tom Kuczynski, CIO, DC Water & Sewer Authority
Thomas Kuczynski is the Chief Information Officer for the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (DC Water). Mr. Kuczynski heads up an IT team of 60 individuals and a $20 million budget to develop applications that support customer services and operations, and provide technical support to help employees do their jobs.
Mr. Kuczynski has more than 35 years of experience in Information Technology including nearly 30 years at Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) in two separate terms of employment. He was most recently Senior Vice President, Strategic and Information Services for PGW managing Strategic Planning, Enterprise Performance Management, Information Services and Internal Auditing.
Andre van Honschooten, CIS Solution Architect, VertexOne
Andre has 17 years of experience deploying CIS solutions for utilities; 8 full life cycle SAP implementations for utilities; 15 years SAP experience SAP application manager for global chemical distribution company responsible for supporting the following business functions – Global HR, Global Finance, Indirect procurement, Accounts payable (North America); SAP analytics tools. He is responsible for the delivery of VertexOne services to our customers.
